## The dates: what we know and what we don't

The fixed part of the calendar is easy. Black Friday is always the Friday after Thanksgiving, so this year it's November 27, and Cyber Monday follows on November 30. Those are the only dates locked in today.

Everything else is up to Amazon, which usually confirms its official window a couple of weeks out. The pattern has held for several years now: a full week of deals that opens the Thursday before Thanksgiving and closes on Cyber Monday, with scattered early deals through the first half of November. In 2025 that meant November 20 through December 1. Something similar is a fair bet for 2026, but until Amazon says so it's a forecast, and we'll update this page once the dates are official.

Unlike the [October Prime Day](https://picksdesk.com/en/deals/prime-big-deal-days) event, Black Friday isn't limited to Prime members. A membership mostly buys you faster shipping and a handful of member-only deals, which in past years were a small slice of the catalog.

## What to expect, department by department

Home is where our coverage runs deepest. Stick vacuums are among the most heavily promoted products of the season, and our guide to the [cordless stick vacuum](https://picksdesk.com/en/home-kitchen/cordless-stick-vacuum-which-to-buy) explains why a swappable battery matters more than the suction number on the box. Robots follow the same logic as always: a [robot vacuum with a self-emptying dock](https://picksdesk.com/en/home-kitchen/robot-vacuum-which-to-buy) changes your week far more than a little extra suction.

In the kitchen, late November is gift season for countertop appliances. Short on counter space? A flip-up [air fryer toaster oven](https://picksdesk.com/en/home-kitchen/air-fryer-oven-which-to-buy) replaces a toaster oven and an air fryer at once. Starting from zero, read up on [how to choose an air fryer](https://picksdesk.com/en/home-kitchen/air-fryer-buying-guide) and settle on a size before the deals start.

Then there's the cold, which is already here by Thanksgiving weekend. A dual-zone [heated mattress pad](https://picksdesk.com/en/home-kitchen/heated-mattress-pad-which-to-buy) warms the bed before you get in and lets you turn the thermostat down overnight, and for a chilly bathroom or home office a [ceramic space heater](https://picksdesk.com/en/home-kitchen/space-heater-which-to-buy) is still the simplest fix.

In beauty we watch the tools people use every morning. A premium [hair straightener](https://picksdesk.com/en/beauty-care/best-flat-iron-hair-straightener) is one of the safest gifts of the season, because whoever gets one has usually wanted it for a while. The same goes for a [professional hair dryer](https://picksdesk.com/en/beauty-care/hair-dryer-which-to-buy) and an [electric toothbrush](https://picksdesk.com/en/beauty-care/oral-b-vs-philips-sonicare-electric-toothbrush), both Black Friday regulars.

In tech, keep an eye on [AI smart glasses](https://picksdesk.com/en/tech/ai-smart-glasses-which-to-buy). They barely moved in October, and Black Friday is the first big event where the second generation could show up on sale. [Noise cancelling headphones](https://picksdesk.com/en/tech/noise-cancelling-headphones-study-focus) remain the most price-volatile thing in the department.

For kids, the smartest gift is often the least flashy: a pair of [volume limiting headphones](https://picksdesk.com/en/tech/best-kids-headphones-for-school) for the tablet and the car, or an [insulated kids water bottle](https://picksdesk.com/en/kids-family/best-kids-water-bottle-for-school) tucked in with the rest.

## How to spot a deal that's actually a deal

Start with price history. In the US there's no rule tying a strikethrough price to what the product actually sold for in recent weeks, so the "List Price" next to a deal can be a number almost nobody paid. Free browser extensions and price-tracking sites show months of history for any Amazon listing, and two minutes there tell you whether a deal beats the usual price or matches what it cost in September.

Then three practical checks. The full model number, because one product line often carries versions with different accessories, and the stripped-down one is frequently the one on sale. The seller, because on an appliance you'll keep for years, Amazon versus an unknown third-party seller makes a real difference when you need a warranty claim. And the fine print on clip coupons, which sometimes applies to a single color or a minimum quantity.

> Build your wish list now with two or three models per product, full model numbers included. When the deals go live, open it and see what changed.

*Photo: A list built before the deals start saves time and bad buys.*

## The products we're watching

All of these come from our own guides. We select them from spec sheets, verified owner reviews and the specialist press, without testing them physically. If they drop in late November, we already know why we'd recommend them; if they don't, they're still the models we'd point a friend to.

### Dyson V8 Plus, the stick vacuum to start with

Light, easy to empty, and the tool kit covers floors, the couch and the car. It's the one we'd hand to anyone who wants to cut the cord on daily cleaning without paying for Dyson's top tier. In a large house with shedding pets, runtime gets tight.

### Dreame D10 Plus Gen 2, the robot that empties itself

Lidar navigation, a light mopping pad and, above all, a base that empties the bin on its own for weeks at a time. It stays mid-range because the mop doesn't wash itself, so if you want floors that are properly mopped, look higher up.

### Ninja SP101, the air fryer oven that flips up

Eight functions in a low countertop oven that tips up against the backsplash when you're done. It's for small kitchens where every inch of counter is spoken for. It doesn't have the deep basket of a classic air fryer, so a big batch of fries takes more patience.

### Sunbeam Restful Quilted, the heated mattress pad for couples

A quilted top, separate controls for each side of a queen bed and an automatic shutoff. It's the pad for couples who disagree about bedroom temperature. Wash it gently and by the label, as with any heated bedding.

### ghd Platinum+, the flat iron worth gifting

One temperature, managed by sensors that adjust to how thick each section is instead of asking you to pick a setting. It's the gift for someone who straightens color-treated hair every day. For occasional use it's more iron than you need.

### Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2, the most complete smart glasses

Camera, open-ear audio and a voice assistant in a frame that looks like a regular pair of Wayfarers. The second generation mainly improved battery life. If you already wear prescription lenses, factor in the extra cost and wait for the lens fitting.

### JBL Junior 470NC, kids headphones with noise cancelling

A volume cap to protect young ears, noise cancelling for planes and road trips, and closed ear cups that block out siblings. It's the gift for a kid who travels a lot. A toddler who only listens at home can get by with something simpler.

## Shopping for the holidays: delivery and returns

Black Friday is when a lot of people knock out holiday shopping, so the terms matter as much as the price. In recent years Amazon has extended its return window for purchases made in November and December through the end of January. The policy changes year to year, so check the current terms before you buy a gift that might not land.

On delivery, the advice is obvious but worth repeating: a gift ordered Thanksgiving weekend arrives with time to spare, one ordered mid-December from a third-party seller shipping from overseas may not.

*Photo: For gifts, delivery and return terms matter too.*

## When to wait and when not to

If you need something now, buy it now. Waiting five weeks on a space heater or a heated mattress pad to save a little means spending November cold. Waiting makes sense for planned purchases, gifts and the priciest items on your list, where Black Friday has historically been the widest window of the year.

Don't buy just because there's a red badge. If a product wasn't on your list before November, ask whether you'd have paid full price for it in March.

## Our verdict

**If you want cleaning sorted:** Dyson V8 Plus, the cordless stick that covers the whole house without flagship pricing.

**If you want a gift that gets used daily:** ghd Platinum+, for someone who straightens every morning.

**If your kids travel:** JBL Junior 470NC, volume limiting and noise cancelling in the same pair.

## FAQ

**When does Amazon's Black Friday 2026 sale start?**

Black Friday is Friday, November 27, and Cyber Monday is November 30. Amazon hasn't announced its sale window yet; in 2025 its Black Friday week ran from November 20 through December 1.

**Do you need Prime for Black Friday deals?**

No. Unlike Prime Big Deal Days, Black Friday is open to everyone. Prime adds faster shipping and a few member-only deals, which have been a small part of the catalog in past years.

**How can I tell if a Black Friday deal is real?**

Check the price history with a free extension or tracking site, because the List Price shown next to a deal isn't required to reflect recent selling prices. Then confirm the full model number and who's selling it.

**Is Black Friday or Cyber Monday better on Amazon?**

On Amazon both days sit inside the same week of deals and the catalogs overlap heavily. Cyber Monday has traditionally leaned toward electronics, but that isn't a hard rule.

**Can I return Black Friday gifts after the holidays?**

In recent years Amazon has extended returns on November and December purchases through the end of January. Terms change every year, so check the current policy before you order.
