How we chose the questions

The four questions come in the order that actually matters, not the order the marketing suggests.

The first splits the field in two: watching or listening. An audio-only monitor costs less, lasts far longer and keeps you off a screen; a picture tells you why the crying started, not just that it did.

The second question carries as much weight. A private radio link ignores your router, asks for no account and exposes nothing; the app earns its place only once you leave the house.

The third is about the daily trade-off: a big screen with a camera that swings, long runtime, or the smallest possible footprint on the nightstand. Nothing in this price band wins on all three.

Budget comes last because it is the only hard filter: if the price band rules a model out, we do not recommend it anyway. Those bands come from public retail listings rather than today's shelf price, which moves weekly.

Does a monitor without Wi-Fi still make sense?

Yes, and for use inside the house it remains the sturdier option. The link runs directly between the two units, ignores your router and needs no account or updates. The only thing you give up is watching from elsewhere.

Which baby monitor works for two children?

One that accepts extra cameras: among these five, the 3.5-inch GHB and the YESIMOM, which shows two rooms on a split screen. Check the exact compatible camera model before you order it.

Does VOX mode miss quiet wake-ups?

It depends on the sensitivity threshold, which you set by hand. Too low and quiet grumbles slip past; too high and street traffic lights it up. Give it two nights of adjustment before you settle.
